I had a great experience with Ralph Mann & Sons. Our central air conditioning unit stopped working in the late afternoon on a hot day.  Jake Dodge from Ralph & Sons came out to our house after his shift was finished, on his way home from a long work day.  Jake quickly found the issue, went back to the shop to get the necessary fuse.  Shortly after he left, the AC stopped working again due to a bad fuse.  Jake was at our house early the next morning and fixed the unit and this time, the fuse was good.  Our house is cool again, and the work area was left spotless. Ralph Mann & Sons did not charge me as I bought the unit just about one year ago. We cannot say enough good things about this company. We have dealt with Melissa and Wendy in the office and they've always been quick to help and given us fair pricing. Kevin and several other techs have done maintenance on our geothermal systems and done great work. We had the systems installed by another vendor and there had been issues since day one. The other vendor had numerous techs look at the issue and had not solved it. Kevin was able to spot the issue quickly--it was a basic design flaw that caused back flow to occur. He took the time to explain what was happening and made the correction for us so now the system is working as it should have been all along. UPDATE: Since this initial review where they fixed my geothermal systems, I have used them to do routine maintenance on the boiler (which we use for hot water and back up heat). They've done great work there as well--fixing things that were neglected by others. On all occasions, they stand by their work and make sure the work is done right the first time. I highly recommend them for any type of HVAC work and know they will get the work done at a fair price. Our HVAC system bit the dust (residential, 2700 sq ft house w oil/hot air and AC, built in 1998). We had estimates from 5 different contractors ranging from $15k - $20k. RM&S came in at ~$18k, but proposed that we replace what we had with a combination of oil/hot air and an air-source heat pump. They were the only ones to propose this solution and they explained that CT would provide a $4k rebate and the bank would provide a 0.9% interest loan over 7 yrs. with this solution. That brought the cost down to $14k and a killer loan. After some research to validate the proposal, it became clear that it was a "no brainer". A state of the art system which would also save us between $100-$200 mos was icing on the cake. They held our hands through the entire process of rebate and  loan, and showed up exactly on schedule. The techs were super cordial and accommodating and were in and out in a day and a half. There is absolutely nothing could have gone any better in their master class of customer service. I have been a customer of Ralph Mann and Sons Inc. for several years, during which time the Company has performed routine maintenance tasks as well as HVAC upgrades for my 1940’s era home. These upgrades included installation of an energy efficient heat pump, an extension of baseboard heating in an existing room, replacement of a gas water heater one day following my request for service, and replacement of an old, defective and obsolete boiler expansion tank with one that is modern and trouble-free. The HVAC technicians were professional in every aspect of their services, were prompt and efficient in completing the tasks, took precautions to minimize disruption, and left the work areas clean and free of rubbish. The fees for services and equipment are very reasonable. Our furnace stopped working on one of the first cold days of winter. We called, and someone was at our house within about two hours. The technician was friendly, professional, and quickly diagnosed the issue. He was able to repair the furnace in about an hour, which was a huge relief. The cost was very reasonable, and everyone we interacted with was helpful and kind. The whole process was smooth and stress-free during what could have been a really frustrating situation. The day the snowstorm came our furnace stopped working at 6:00 p.m.  I placed an emergency call to Ralph Mann and a technician immediately called me back.  He told us what to do but unfortunately it didn't work.  He couldn't come out due to the storm. So at 7:30 a.m. I received a call from Wendy who is a top notch employee at Ralph Mann that the technicians were on their way and they were here within 15 minutes.  They figured out what was wrong and got the furnace up and running.  I would suggest that anyone looking for a great oil company to call Ralph Mann.  They have always had our backs. Dan and his team at Ralph Mann & Sons recently completed our home's conversion from oil boiler to air-source heat pumps.  From our initial inquiry to completion of project, we were treated as high-value clients and with the utmost professionalism.  Dan visited our home and fielded every question we had.  We were also considering geothermal as a possibility and Dan laid out an approximate cost breakdown and benefit overview vs air-source heat pumps so we could make an informed decision.  Ralph Mann & Sons is a qualified provider for the Energize CT Rebate program and they helped us with submission of the application as well.  The installation team kept us posted on the progress of their work each day and consulted us regularly on positioning of the equipment and understanding how the systems worked.  There is truly a value for the money spent working with these gentlemen. Ralph Mann and sons are just amazing. I had to replace my hot water heater and I called many local HVAC companies only to be floored by their estimates. My friend told me about Ralph Mann so I called. Melissa took great care of my call and sent techs to my house for pictures and her quote was ready in less than two hours and way less than I was expecting. Set appointment and techs here before the time I was anticipating. Before work was performed in the basement. The text took a little time to clean their work area. They would be working in had the old tank out real fast new one in fast in and out in my house in two hours. Before leaving the text, ran all my hot water and let it run and bleed the system and make sure that the demand for hot water remained and the water remained hot. These guys are the absolute best and installed three new geothermal systems at my home in Newtown.  The systems have been performing great.  During the install, the vents needed to be modified to accommodate a high air velocity which they did at no additional charge.  If you are looking for quality work at a reasonable price, look no further. At this point, they have become like family. I highly recommend Ralph Mann & Sons. We recently had a top of the line geothermal system installed and we could not be happier! Craig and Wendy thoroughly answered any and all questions that we had throughout the entire process. Our system was perfectly designed and is whisper quiet. It has no trouble keeping the temperature stable during colder days without the need for aux heat. I also want to give Tony and his team a shoutout as well. I had an entire home AC system installed by Ralph Mann & Sons. The experience and quality from the sales process, to install, to post install follow-up has been nothing short of excellence. The system that was designed for my home is efficient and works perfectly. We were completely comfortable during this long hot Summer. What impressed me most was the extra time the installers spent figuring out the best way to run all the lines and wiring. We needed AC for our house, and after extensively researching options and contractors, I decided on a geothermal system since we would have to soon replace our boiler and I wanted to get off oil. I picked Ralph Mann & Sons to do the install, and could not be more happy. Craig Mann, the president, came right away to give us an estimate, and told us about all the credits and financial incentives that made putting in geothermal cost the same as installing a conventional central AC system. Craig and his crack office team of Wendy and Michelle answered all my many questions and made the setup and paperwork process as easy as possible. We also had to upgrade our electric panel to 200 amps, and Craig gave me an incredible quote about $1,000 below the six other quotes I had received for that upgrade from other electricians. Ralph Mann & Sons works with CT Wells, another top-notch company, who does the drilling and lays the exterior pipes. Ralph Mann's interior installation team has worked together for many years. They use top-of-the-line equipment and are knowledgeable, professional, efficient and clean. Office manager Wendy works closely with you to ensure that the whole process goes smoothly and that your needs and questions are addressed thoroughly and in a very timely manner. She is a treasure! We ran into a few hiccups with the hurricane/tornado and some other problems and she made certain that I was satisfied. I have never worked with a better contractor. I can't say enough about Ralph Mann & Sons!  My AC suffered damage as a result of the recent storm.  I left a message over the weekend thinking it would be a while given the severity of storm damage in Connecticut.  They contacted me first thing and it was fixed Monday morning. I had an LG split level installed two years ago, it wasn’t until the unit stopped working that it was apparent the unit was installed incorrectly. I reached out to over 10 different HVAC companies in the area and Ralph Mann was the only company that was responsive. Wendy who handled scheduling was informative, helpful and adamant that they could help me. When the time came for repair, I expected some kind of push back on repair since it was done with a different company and it would have to be done completely over which other companies really did not want to bother with. To my surprise Kevin from Ralph Mann got right to work, he listened to me regarding the issues I was having with the unit and was able to completely resolve all the problems. He was able to completely redo the job correctly while he walked me through the repairs and job was completed in only a few hours. Other companies stated it would take a few days but as Wendy had stated when I initially called their was no time to waste. Ralph Mann is a phenomenal company and the staff go above and beyond. I will use them for all of my HVAC issues, Kevin is a master at his craft and it says a lot about an organization to have a guy for over 40 years. My geothermal heat pump stopped working.  The next morning I called Craig.  They were very busy but he said he would do what he could.  Within a few minutes he called back and said he had a technician in the area and would squeeze us in.  His technician diagnosed and fixed our problem within an hour of me making the first phone call.  Craig and his employees were very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Hands down one of the best HVAC/Contracting companies I've ever worked with. They were super professional, worked endlessly to get the job done, and kept the place clean and were super respectful. They installed an entire Geothermal system in my home in a week which works flawlessly and provided excellent support/guidance when working with the State of Connecticut's energize CT program. I researched and compared costs to have a new heat pump installed at my home. Ralph Mann and Sons carried the top quality product lines that I was interested in and their pricing was very competitive. As part of my research, I contacted some references who were pleased with their experience with Mann and a personal friend also recommended them to me. At that point, I felt very comfortable moving forward with buying my unit from Mann and using them for my install. I was very impressed with the Mann team on installation day. All were knowledgeable in their respective fields and respectful of us and our belongings. They were very clean and left the area   spotless. I had a lot of questions about how to use the system initially and everyone at Mann has been very gracious in answering my questions, even  after the installation. We purchased our Westport home in January 2008. The home was marketed as a “green house” and was awarded a Hobi award as the  “best green house” in Connecticut in 2008. What was “green” were the dollars sucked from our wallet due to outrageous monthly electric bills for heating. After hearing numerous senseless proposals, one vender led us to Ralph Mann and Sons, who offered us a true solution and with whom we have developed a continuing wonderful relationship! Ralph Mann identified the cause of our high bills and  modified the heating/cooling system in a way that resulted in a nearly 40% reduction in the monthly operating cost - AND - eliminated the wide, uncomfortable and uncontrollable temperature variations we were experiencing. Our system continues to be maintained by Ralph Mann - and will be so as long as we live in this house. Our experience has clearly been stellar. The responsiveness to a few scattered issues resulting from “aging” has always been prompt and efficient. When we moved into our house a few years ago, we knew we wanted a generator.  After doing some research, we decided to have Ralph Mann & Sons, Inc. do the installation since they had a brand we wanted (Kohler), were a well established business, had an excellent reputation, and proposed a competitive bid.  They have continued to service our generator since that time.  In addition, we have used them to install a new heating zone box and to replace our thermostats.  We have been extremely satisfied with all the work performed by Ralph Mann & Sons, Inc.  We were impressed by everyone we encountered, from the office staff to the technicians performing the work - they are all extremely knowledgeable, reliable and pleasant to deal with. Ralph Mann & Sons first installed my home geothermal service in 2009. Since then, they have serviced this system and my backup generator. Craig Mann, the owner, is very responsive and knowledgeable. The service team responds even on holidays and weekends and, if they cannot show up immediately, will help troubleshoot by phone. A friend of mine recommended Ralph Mann & Sons. I had a few price  quotes regarding getting central air in my home. All the quotes were very similar. Dennis came to my  house  and gave his quote and suggestions about installing central air. He was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. I decided to have my system installed with Ralph Mann and Sons. Dennis told me Wendy from the office would call and set up my installation. Wendy walked me thru the process. Everything went smoothly. Ralph Mann & Sons is by far one of the most professional and efficient service companies I have ever dealt with. After my 23 year old condenser finally kicked the bucket, they were on site the next day to assess the situation. When replacement day came, Kevin and Matt arrived right on schedule. Not bad, especially when it was a 30 minute window to begin with! They got right to work, and before I knew it the old condenser and evaporator was already in the back of the van. When a metal piece needed replacing they were able to leave, machine a new part, and return in about 25 minutes. I honestly couldn’t believe it. I was initially told this would be an all day affair. But just four hours later, the new parts were installed and running beautifully. Kevin and Matt answered any questions I had during the process, and were very respectful of my home throughout the entire install. Ralph Mann & Sons recently just replaced my oil furnace with a gas furnace. We are soo happy with making the conversion! It was done within one day, the men were professional, and the two woman who handled paperwork and all the dealings at the front were more than amazing. Every time I called I was able to speak with someone, they always kept me up to date when I was waiting for the smart e loan to process, and they were efficient! I'd give 10 stars if I could. You know they did a good job installing your gas furnace when the city inspector comes out and immediately recognizes who did the job and then tells you that you can count on everything working perfectly. He said if he knew Mann put a unit in he really didn't need to inspect it. They have also been great and prompt for my years tune-ups. I have an old, and sometimes needy house.  Ralph Mann and Sons are experts in all types of old house problems and they have the solutions. They do all my plumbing and heating work.  Including replacing both our gas and oil furnace,  doing the plumbing for 2 new bathrooms, and many smaller jobs.  They also deliver my oil. I have dealt with Ralph Mann extensively. Besides being nice people to do busy with,  Ralph Mann is one of the very best companies I have ever dealt with, period! They are honest, reasonably priced, and their technicians really know their stuff. I rarely recommend a company to my friends, but I make an exception when it come to Ralph Mann. They have never let me down and I wouldn't hesitate a second to recommend them. Companies don't survive for over 100 years without doing things right. Saved my summer 2016!  Very experienced and awesome office staff who squeezed me in the same week.  I have a very very old unit and tech was able to get it back on (another company couldn't) and had a workaround to get a couple more years out of it (fingers crossed).
